FOUNDRY BURNER TIPS - SHORT BLAST TIPS
The following
burner tips are generally used in a cluster on a manifold and although common in foundry
applications, the tips can be used in a variety of situations where short, intense flame
burners are desired. All are premix type tips or can be used with an inspirator utilising
high pressure gas only. The mixing arrangement must be properly sized to provide correct
operation, the capacities stated at approx. 500Pa mixture pressure. These tips give a
short, intense flame due to the multiport design. There are two flame types; the
conical type produces a large centre flame with surrounding smaller flames and the
multiport type exhibiting flame points that are all of a similar height. They can be used
on core making machines or manifolded on a pipe to produce a high capacity flame for any
situation requiring high heat inputs into a small area.
The CB03 is manufactured as a two piece design and is particularly suited to the Woodway
core machines. The CB10 burner tip is especially suitable for the Macbro core machine. The
MP10 is our most popular multiport tip delivering a high heat output with high turn down
and is similar to the GRID10. The MP10 are most commonly used to preheat dies fitted into
a manifold with a CSA 10% bigger than the total burner port area.

These tips are commonly mounted onto pipe manifolds. It is important to make certain the pipe will allow the correct capacity, the following table illustrates the amount of total mixture (air and gas) that can be passed at a mixture pressure of approx. 125 Pa. Thick wall black pipe is usually employed.
