TWO BURNER OR FOUR BURNER KILN WITH TANGENTIALLY FIRED BURNERS

This is the best way to fire a kiln but may not always be practicable. When using four burners the burners fire at each other and the flame end is deflected upward by two tilted tiles.

SIDE FIRED BURNERS

Not the best method but if used the burners should fire onto a bagwall to disperse the flames.

BOTTOM FIRED BURNERS

Usually the only way of firing trolley kilns or larger kilns. If using this method on smaller kilns there can be cold spots as the hot gasses tend to flow in columns. Use many smaller burners to overcome this.
