TORCHES
There are several
models in the range of hand held and bench mounted jewellers torches. All jewellers
torches are designed to operate on an air/gas supply. They will work satisfactorily on
L.P. Gas, Natural gas or Towns gas without modification providing the gas supply is low
pressure. A gas regulator must be used.

HHT - HAND HELD
TORCH The HHT torch has a fine control gas valve and a small pilot line. The air supply can be either mouth blown or compressed air. These torches can also be bench mounted although it is more usual to specify the BMT torch. |
| BMT - BENCH
MOUNTED TORCH The bench mounted torch swivels to a pilot position when not in use. A main gas control valve is fitted. The air requirement is the same as the HHT torch. |

UAGT - UNIVERSAL JEWELLERS TORCH The Universal type jewellers torch is used for larger soldering or localised heating work. This torch is suitable for use on compressed air only and would be specified where a greater heat output than is possible with the HHT torch is required. A compressed air supply of approx. 50 kPa is necessary and the torch can be used on any commercially available fuel gas (except acetylene) without modification. The gas supply should be low pressure. The gas and air control valves are fine control types. |
This range of hand torches are designed for Industrial heating work. The usual air supply is compressed air although the larger torches can be adapted for a lower pressure air supply. The gas supply should be reduced by a regulator and must be protected from air back flow by installing a light flap check valve in the gas line. The UT1 torch is a variation of the Universal torch and has fine control valves. The MT type torches are more Industrial types and have rugged valves with metal handles. If using compressed air, the air pressure should be regulated to approx. 70 kPa. |

The air and gas supply to the torches should include some or all of the following for safety and ease of operation. Some components are required by the Gas authorities before connection to the gas supply.

GAS CHECK VALVE A gas plastic flap check valve should be fitted in the gas piping to prevent the return of air into the gas line. |
FLEXIBLE HOSES Approved flexible hoses with non-removable fittings should be used. Make certain the hose size is sufficient to pass the correct volume. Oxygen or acetylene hoses should not be used. |

AIR REGULATOR An air regulator should be used in the main air line to reduce the air pressure to approx. 100 kPa for better control. |
GAS REGULATOR A gas regulator may be required in some cases. A low pressure gas regulator should always be used with L.P.Gas. |
